V International Meeting of the Magna Grecia Foundation

International Meeting of the
Magna Grecia Foundation

"For us, the meeting in Castellabate and Paestum is all about rediscovering Magna Graecia roots and striving for the future on a path that looks to progress, maintaining the great human values inherited from the past." This is what Nino Foti, president of the Magna Grecia Foundation, declared in view of the fifth edition of the SUD e FUTURI meeting to be held on September 28-29 at Villa Matarazzo in Castellabate (Sa) and on September 30 at the Archaeological Park of Paestum.

The event was promoted and organized by the Magna Grecia Foundation, together with media partner Pubbliemme–Diemmecom–LaC Network–ViaCondotti21 group, and in collaboration with news agency AdnKronos and the Pio Alferano Foundation, the patronage of the Municipalities of Castellabate, Capaccio Paestum and the Cilento National Park.

"Our South has many possible futures," Foti continued, "but also a present made up of many Souths. There are Souths that already inspire Europe on a creative, intellectual and entrepreneurial level, coexisting with the Souths of missed opportunities and strategic political blunders. SUD e FUTURI means seeing the other side of the coin, discussing how to offer young people a reason to stay or to return."

The meeting, now in its fifth edition, was a way to reflect on all the possible futures of the South. So many futures and just as many strategic sectors that are crucial for the growth of the South. The program focused on five sectors: declining birth rate and depopulation, infrastructure and mobility, globalization of the mafias and investments in the south starting from the enhancement of cultural heritage and Magna Graecia in particular. The venue for the first two days was the nineteenth-century Villa Matarazzo in Santa Maria di Castellabate (Sa). The third and final day took place in the evocative setting of the Archaeological Park of Paestum (Sa).

Furthermore, this fifth edition was attended by several esteemed guests. It was moderated by Paola Bottero, strategic director of ViaCondotti21, Pubbliemme – Diemmecom, Alessandro Russo, editorial director of LaC Network and Fabrizio Frullani, deputy director of Tg2. Representing the Magna Grecia Foundation, together with President Nino Foti, were MP Saverio Romano, vice president of the Foundation, and Antonello Colosimo, Chamber President of the Court of Auditors of Umbria Region.
