A lot of South, a lot of videos, a lot of food for thought with a common element: beauty.
The Magna Grecia Foundation, in partnership with the Fondazione con il Sud, conceived and co-financed the “1 Minuto di Bellezza” (1 Minute of Beauty) contest. The intent was to stimulate an alternative narrative through video language, the web and social media, directly involving those who inhabit these territories, combining the beauty of places and culture with individual and community stories.
The contest was made up of two distinct sections:
The “Instagram” section, aimed at young people who are at least 14, residing in the southern regions (Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily), for the creation of a 60″ Reel through which their idea of beauty is conveyed.
The “Shorts” section, intended only for professional video makers over 18 (filmmakers, visual artists, video photographers, etc.) residing in the regions listed above, for the creation of “shorts” lasting 60″.
The works were evaluated by a distinguished jury, chaired by the Director of Rai Play Elena Capparelli, among which director Mimmo Calopresti stood out; Viviana Rizzuto, creator of the Sciacca 5 Sensi Widespread Museum; Lorenzo Scaraggi, director and video reporter, and Gaetano Balestra, social media expert and social media manager of the social cooperative La Paranza – Catacombs of Naples and Rione Sanità.
