On Thursday, December 1 at 10 a.m. at the "Lanterna" on Via Tomacelli 157, Rome, was held the appointment with Sud e Futuri, the event organized by the Magna Grecia Foundation in partnership with the Pubbliemme-Diemmecom Group, ViaCondotti21-LaCapitale, LaC Network. The event was coordinated by Alessandro Russo, editorial director of the Network and Paola Bottero, strategic director of the Group. The other media partner is AdnKronos. The title of the event is Strategic Mezzogiorno-Southern Italy: political, economic, cultural and ethical challenges, a day of reflection on how to overcome the gap between North and South, precisely in the days when Svimez announces that the GDP of the South will mark -0.4% in 2023. While the North grows, the South enters a new recession. The location chosen for Sud e Futuri, La Lanterna designed by Massimiliano Fuksas, is symbolic: innovative, full of beauty, art and light. It is the symbol of a political, economic, cultural and ethical challenge: that of the South.

After the opening remarks delivered by the president of the Magna Grecia Foundation, Nino Foti, the first panel, “The value of culture” moderated by Francesco Verderami of newspaper Corriere della Sera featured a dialogue between State Accountant General Biagio Mazzotta, the President of Svimez Adriano Giannola, the President of Entopan Francesco Cicione, the Italian Supreme Audit Institution judge and founding member of the Magna Grecia Foundation Antonello Colosimo, the President of the National Association of Public Managers and State High Professions of Lazio Region Cristina Costarelli, the CEO of Civita Mostre e Musei Giorgio Sotira and the President of the Commission for Culture of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Federico Mollicone.

The last event scheduled at 5 p.m. was the panel entitled “Infrastructure and mobility: rushing to make up for delays” moderated by Tg2 journalist Fabrizio Frullani. Guests included the Minister for European Affairs, the South, Cohesion Policies and the NRRP Raffaele Fitto, the Vice President of the Magna Grecia Foundation MP Saverio Romano, the President of Assaeroporti Carlo Borgomeo, the professor of Roads, Railways and Airports and Head of FS Academy-Ferrovie dello Stato Dario Lo Bosco, the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Government of the SEZs Campania and Calabria Giosy Romano, the Professor of Sustainable Mobility Systems Engineering at UniMed Francesco Russo, the Director of Strategies, Planning, Regulation and Sustainability of Trenitalia Alessandro Zoratti, the CEO and General Manager of RFI Vera Fiorani and the President of the Calabria Region Roberto Occhiuto.

In the uncertainty of what will happen on a global level, Sud e Futuri is a path towards a shared horizon promoted by the Magna Grecia Foundation and its President Nino Foti, which stems from the urgency of providing answers, of identifying strategies capable of reversing course.  The Magna Grecia Foundation is a non-profit organization that has been promoting the development of Southern Italy by involving and putting together social partners, businesses and institutions. It carries out orientation courses for young people entering the world of work, conferences and study seminars also through international cultural exchanges. It also coordinates schools of higher education and sets up scholarship funds.
