Rome, 10 June 2024 – MoU signed between FMG and ENEA
Rome, 10 June 2024 – ENEA and Fondazione Magna Grecia have signed a memorandum of understanding to start a collaboration on the scientific, educational and dissemination levels. The agreement was signed by ENEA President Gilberto Dialuce and by the President of the Magna Grecia Foundation Nino Foti, with the aim of promoting initiatives, studies, analyses and publications on issues of common interest. These include the creation of an annual report on energy and sustainability in Italy, focusing specifically on the South of the country.
The agreement also provides for the organization of conferences, seminars and debates on areas of common interest to promote the results of research and literacy activities on the issues of energy, sustainable development and the environment, with a specific focus on young people and participation in projects and initiatives that make use of national and/or European funds.
The Protocol does not involve financial flows, has no commercial purpose and provides for the establishment of a technical-scientific committee, composed by FMG Secretary General Alessandro Di Legge, FMG Head of Research Center Fiammetta Pilozzi, ENEA Director General Giorgio Graditi and ENEA Director of Technology Transfer Department Alessandro Coppola. The Committee shall promote and monitor the implementation of the Protocol, plan the activities and initiatives provided for in the Agreement and define the modalities for their implementation.
ENEA President Gilberto Dialuce underlined that "a collaboration with the Magna Grecia Foundation is extremely positive for ENEA, taking into account that the Foundation's sectors of interest, more often than not, coincide with ours; just to name a few: energy, environmental, and sustainable development issues. This is a far-reaching agreement that will allow us to increase information and dissemination activities to the general public on critical global issues and on our research activities".
The President of the Magna Grecia Foundation, Nino Foti commented that "This agreement allows us to set out on a journey of action-research projects that can contribute to creating concrete benefits with particular attention to the territories of Southern Italy. In this sense, thanks to technological innovation – I am thinking of artificial intelligence applied to virtual reality – we can rely on important institutions (among others, the State General Accounting) with which we are already collaborating on issues such as the enhancement and protection of cultural heritage, or the support for municipalities in urban regeneration, in the development of energy issues or in the blue economy, with the sea as the undisputed protagonist of the economy of the South".
