The Magna Grecia Foundation was one of the partners of the sixth edition of the International Award dedicated to Oreste Granillo, the historic President of Reggina Football Club, who passed away 27 years ago. Among the winners was world champion Gigi Buffon.

The event, which took place at the Altafiumara Resort in Villa San Giovanni (RC), has now become a regular appointment for all sportsmen and women from Reggio Emilia and all over Italy. This year an icon of world football such as Gianluigi Buffon took part in event. The world champion, who is now head of the delegation for the national team, received the 2024 Granillo Award from Maria Stella Granillo, Oreste's daughter, and the President of the Magna Grecia Foundation, Nino Foti.

There was great enthusiasm among those in attendance who warmly welcomed the former goalkeeper, who, at the end of the award ceremony, declared: "I am proud of this recognition that bears the name of an important man for this city and for the world of football. My thoughts go to Reggina, which in the last twenty years has been at the forefront of the football movement and it hurts not to see it as a protagonist anymore. We need to make every effort, put all the energy that I have always felt in all the away games played at Granillo stadium, because football and sport can influence the life of a city more than anything else."

The debate with Gigi Buffon was moderated not only by journalist and founder of the award Maurizio Insardà, but also by journalist Marica Giannini and renowned sports journalist Italo Cucci.

The other awards of the 2024 edition were presented to Nino Mallamace (president of the Polisportiva Futura 5-a-side football), Beppe Ursino (manager of Crotone Football Club), Pino Capua (president of the FIGC anti-doping commission) and Pasquale Favasuli (physician of Reggina Football club).
