Fedele Confalonieri

Fedele Confalonieri is an Italian business executive, current president of Mediaset S.p.A. and, since 2017, chairman of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano, member of the board of directors of Arnoldo Mondadori S.p.A. and member of the board of directors of the newspaper Il Giornale.
In October 2000, on the occasion of the Magna Grecia International Week in Rio de Janeiro organized by the International Association bearing the same name and chaired by President Nino Foti, Confalonieri was presented with the Magna Grecia International Award together with Roberto Irineu Marinho, President of the Brazilian television giant Globo, for the commitment of the two major television networks in the world of communication and above all for the in-depth knowledge provided on the great migratory phenomenon between Italy and Brazil. As a matter of fact, The Brazilian Network Globo produced and broadcast with great success "Terra nostra", a TV Series that reconstructed the events of the great Italian emigration to Brazil in the early twentieth century. In those years, Mediaset bought the rights to the TV Series and then broadcast it on the Italian channel Rete 4.
Born in Milan in 1937, as a teenager he formed a strong bond with former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. In fact, the two were always united by their common passion for music and cultivated this great interest, starting to perform together in high school, and after graduating from high school, kept performing in dance halls and night clubs until Confalonieri, after a heated argument, fired his friend who would then keep on singing on cruise ships in the summer.
In particular, Confalonieri's passion for music led him to be appointed President of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala of Milan and President of the Committee for the Verdi celebrations, as well as having obtained, in October 2007, the piano diploma at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan with a program that included Beethoven's Appassionata, a Rhapsody by Brahms, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and Schumann's Fantasy.
After graduating in law from the University of Milan, he followed his friend Berlusconi in his television endeavour from the very beginning, holding positions of responsibility in the Biscione companies.
He is a member of the board of directors of Confindustria and Assolombarda and, within the Radio and Television Federation, president of the National Television Association.
